Introduction to VR Type 4: Letter Sequence

In VR Type 4, you will be given a relationship between two pairs of letters. You will then be given a third pair of letters and asked to find the fourth pair. As an example, the question is in the format:

CH is to XS as RI is to
?

The main logic is that you need to look at the position of the corresponding letters by counting forward or backward. If the answer is not among the options given, you need
to check whether the letters are mirrored images

Mirrored Images

The mirrored letters encountered in Type 1 is also tested in VR Type 4. As a reminder, the mirror image of a letter is found by writing the alphabets in reverse order. So that the
mirror of letter A becomes Z; B becomes Y; C becomes X and so on.  See the table below.

It is advisable to copy this down before you attempt both the Practice and Assessment tests.

MB is to PY as SH is to ?

Solution:

From M to P is 3 forward; B to Y is 3 backward. Therefore, SH must be VE.

Answer: VE
